Health Center in Nicaragua
The Global Health Project's Fall 2009 goal is to raise funds for the clinic El Centro de Salud Villa Julio 15 in Nicaragua near the city of Chinandega. The clinic hopes to set up a labor and delivery room for mothers who cannot safely make it all the way into town to give birth. We would like to make this hope a reality for them.
Their projected needs include:
Labor and Delivery Room:
*A doppler to listen to babies’ heart beats during labor and delivery
*Surgical equipment: tweezers, scalpels - for minor surgeries and for episiotomies
*A thermal bed with a lamp for newborns
*general medicines
Other Needs:
*Bed Sheets
*Blood pressure cuffs and stethoscopes
*A microcentrifuge for hematocryts
*Glucose monitors with the strips
*An air conditioner for the lab
Donations: We greatly appreciate absolutely any contribution that will help us meet the clinic's needs. You can make a secure online donation on this website via credit card through PayPal - just click on the yellow "Donate" button to the left.
